This Volume 10 of our Occasional Publications compiled and edited by Peter JF Herbert (PJFH) is dedicated to the memory of Graham Melville-Mason, our past Chairman and Patron.

Anthony Philip Heinrich (1781-1861) was referred to by many soubriquets during his lifetime and after his death. “The Western Minstrel” is therefore one of many. As “The Beethoven of America” he had a major place of the development of music in America. There was therefore, much to be done “to both discover and preserve Heinrich’s legacy.” Peter Herbert has done much to discover and hopefully preserve the life, times and compositions of this man, with great diligence to detail. Together with his contributers and with the use of facsimiles and illustrations, this volume brings the man, “Father Heinrich” to life.
