Pages:<\/strong>\u00a032, illustrated.<\/p>\n Authors<\/strong> Language Publisher Formats and Prices Born in the small Moravian town of Napajedla on 11 February 1912,\u00a0Rudolf Firku\u0161n\u00fd\u00a0<\/strong>was one of the most distinguished and esteemed Czech pianists of the 20th century. A pupil of Jan\u00e1\u010dek and closely associated with Martin\u016f both as interpreter and friend, his recordings of works by these composers remain among the best ever made (some would argue that they are\u00a0the<\/em>best). He was a Vice President and Patron of the Dvo\u0159\u00e1k Society.<\/p>\n Firku\u0161n\u00fd died in Staatsburg, New York State, on 19 July 1994.
