His father\u2019s employer,&nbsp;<strong>Count Vincent of Waldstein<\/strong>, recognised his musical talent, sent him to study with&nbsp;<strong>Tartini<\/strong>&nbsp;in Italy and encouraged him in his musical career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kammel came to Britain in 1765, taking part in the country\u2019s musical life as a violinist and composer. He belonged to the circle around&nbsp;<strong>Karl Friedrich Abel<\/strong>and&nbsp;<strong>Johann Christian Bach<\/strong>. After his death in 1784 none of his children became musicians because \u2014 as a prudent man \u2014 he wished them to be apprenticed to a trade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anthony Kammel\u2019s works remain his legacy, while Sylva \u0160imsov\u00e1\u2019s book is also an interesting picture of musical life in the 18th century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"event-to-launch-book-at-the-historic-shugborough-estate-staffordshire\">Event to launch book at the historic Shugborough Estate, Staffordshire<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Saturday 12 July 2014,&nbsp;<em>to launch this book<\/em>, the&nbsp;<strong>Dvo\u0159\u00e1k Society<\/strong>&nbsp;is holding an event at the historic&nbsp;<strong>Shugborough Estate<\/strong>&nbsp;in Staffordshire, with talks and examples of Kammel\u2019s music performed live by a quartet.
