The composer, choirmaster, choral conductor and music teacher Bohumil Fidler<\/strong> (1860\u2009\u2013\u20091944), was born in P\u0159\u00edbram, southern Bohemia, where he spent his working life. The town was close to the summer home of Dvo\u0159\u00e1k at Vysok\u00e1 and a friendship developed between the two men.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to numerous photographs and other graphic material, the book includes valuable reminiscences of Dvo\u0159\u00e1k\u2019s domestic life at Vysok\u00e1 and the relationship of the internationally renowned figure with the provincial musical life of his country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fidler himself was a remarkably talented man who devoted his career to the musical life of P\u0159\u00edbram, which is brought to life in the other parts of his autobiography.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This first English language edition of Fidler\u2019s autobiography was translated by by Fidler\u2019s granddaughter Eva Szabo<\/strong> and edited his great granddaughter Sonya Szabo Reynolds<\/strong>, a member of the piano faculty at Xavier University in Cincinnati.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is a preface by Michael Beckerman<\/strong> of New York University.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
