Memorial Concert for Vilém Tauský (1)
The date given in the last Newsletter (68) was incorrect. The correct date is: Saturday, 12th March 2005 at 7:30 p.m. The venue will be: the United Reformed Church Hall in Widmore Road, Bromley, where the hall holds 350 people and is next door to a multi-storey car park and fairly near to both Bromley South and Bromley North rail stations.
This will not be a wake, but a mixed programme of music—vocal, instrumental and choral. Vilém Tauský was the first and, so far only President of the Bromley Oecumenical Singers so it is fitting that they should be taking part, as will a small group, probably a string quartet, from the Bromley Youth Music Trust of which Vilém was a strong supporter. Some of Vilém’s music will be played (piano and violin) and operetta will be included as he was so well-known for it. Marilyn Hill Smith will be singing and the MC will be Nigel Douglas who also sang at Sadler’s Wells under Vilém’s baton. A bass-baritone, another soprano and two tenors will also be performing. www.dvorak-society.org
