Sir Charles Mackerras: Philharmonia Orchestra to give 80th birthday concert at Australia House, London, on Saturday 26 November 2005 (preceded by reception)

     Dvořák Society President, Sir Charles Mackerras, will celebrate his 80th birthday on 17th November 2005. This distinguished musician is currently Principal Guest Conductor of the Philharmonia Orchestra and, to mark the event, the orchestra will be performing in a special concert in Australia House, The Strand, London WC2B 4LA, on Saturday 26th November at 7:30pm (preceded by a pre-concert reception at 6:30pm). The performers will be:

Danielle De Niese (soprano)
Naoko Miyamoto (violin)
Piers Lane (piano)
Bennelong Ensemble
Philharmonia Orchestra

The programme will be:

Nathan: Overture, Don John of Austria
Dvořák: Romance for Violin and Orchestra, Op 11 (B39)
Grainger: Molly on the Shore
Janáček: Concertino for piano and chamber ensemble (1925)
Mozart: Exsultate, jubilate
Mozart: Symphony No. 38, Prague K504
